Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (Active IQ)

Course overview

This is a blended learning course, which means you will have days with your tutor and peers, there is also an element of home study, preparation and revision along with tutor and centre support. Practice and session planning is required to be carried out in your own time in between the training days and leading up to assessment.

This course replaces the Level 4 V1

This qualification is for individuals who would like to pursue a career in internal verifying and quality assuring the assessment process. If you are already an assessor and would like to advance your career becoming an Internal Verifier is the way forward. This qualification is a mix of eLearning for Unit 1, one day face to face delivery and distance learning.

Venue

This course is delivered online via Zoom in real time with your tutor.

Zoom login details will be sent in an email with your pre course letter approximately 1-2 weeks prior to the course start date.

Entry requirements

You must have a Level 3 Assessor qualification a recognised equivalent:

• The Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
• Active IQ Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
• The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
• A1 Assess candidate performance using a range of methods
• D32 Assess candidate performance and D33 Assess candidate using differing sources of evidence
• Learners must be 18 years or older.

Aim / Objectives

The objective of this qualification is to assess the performance of a learning and development practitioner with responsibility for the internal quality assurance of assessment.

• Unit 2: Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment
  • Contribute to Quality Assurance Procedures
  • The role of the Internal Verifier
  • How to describe the respective roles and responsibilities of bodies involved in the development of qualifications
  • The principles of assessment
  • How to give feedback and action plans
  • The process of standardisation within the assessment process

Assessment

• Sampling plan
• Internal verification report
• Standardisation exercise
• Worksheet or professional discussion
• Observation of internal verification including planning, teaching and evaluating
• Portfolio of evidence

What to do now

• Complete an online application form, making your deposit or full payment
• Receive your manual for the learning of Unit 1
• You will attend the above training day ( Some home study is expected) with tutor assistance
• You will complete your assignments and produce a portfolio of evidence
• You should have access to at least 2 assessors who will need to learners in order for you to provide the above evidence
• Submission of performance based video evidence is required for Unit 3. If you are unable to provide video evidence, your assessor will need to perform a direct observation for an additional fee to cover travel expenses

You can choose to pay the full price upfront, or a deposit followed by the balance before the course starts.

• Registration with the awarding body, Certificate, Course manual and Learner Assessment Portfolio, Initial assessment, training days with tutor as stated.
